Foster out and Reid active vs Washington

With a setback in Thursday’s practice, 49ers rookie sensation Reuben Foster was inactivated for the Redskins game. Foster sustained a high ankle sprain in the season opener after just 11 defensive snaps. He hasn’t been back since and only started practicing this week.

Foster looked energized and quick in Wednesday practice. The 49ers are right to go slow with Foster because of the nature of high ankle sprains.

Without Foster, the team will likely start special teams player Brock Coyle at middle linebacker and the team will also play rookie free agent Elijah Lee at times.

The team also inactivated safety Eric Reid (knee) who also practiced this week.
