SANTA CLARA–It took 22 possessions, but the 49ers finally have their first touchdown of the season.

After Thursday’s contest against the Rams started in disastrous fashion, quarterback Brian Hoyer made up for an early interception with his first rushing touchdown since 2009.

The opening drive of Thursday’s game lasted just one play thanks to a Hoyer interception that set up the Rams’ opening score, but when the 49ers’ got the ball back, San Francisco’s offense atoned for Hoyer’s early mistake.

Hoyer wound up leading a 14-play, 81-yard scoring drive that ended with a nine-yard rushing touchdown. The drive was clearly positive for San Francisco, but the 49ers did receive a bit of negative news as running back Carlos Hyde suffered a hip injury. Hyde is officially questionable to return.

After scoring just three points in the season-opener and nine points in the team’s second contest against Seattle, San Francisco has already proven it can move the ball more efficiently against Los Angeles this week.
