Tartt, Kittle both active, expected to play against Rams

SAN FRANCISCO–Thursday night games are notoriously difficult for NFL players dealing with injuries, but a handful of San Francisco 49ers’ players are going to attempt to play through lingering pain this week.

Ninety minutes prior to kickoff, the 49ers announced that tight end George Kittle, safety Jaquiski Tartt and safety Jimmie Ward would all be active on Thursday evening for the team’s showdown with the Los Angeles Rams. Ward made his season debut on Sunday in Seattle after battling a hamstring injury during training camp that forced him to miss the season-opener, while Tartt has been bothered by a neck injury and Kittle hampered by a hip issue.

Of the trio of players the 49ers listed as questionable in the team’s Wednesday injury report, Kittle’s status was the most uncertain. However, it appears as if the 49ers will give Kittle an opportunity to prove he’s healthy enough to play against Los Angeles.

Both Reuben Foster and Eric Reid were ruled out this week, which means the 49ers are without two of their defensive starters, but Sam linebacker Eli Harold is expected to play after dealing with a foot injury that limited him in Wednesday’s practice.

Of the five players aside from Foster and Reid the 49ers listed as inactive, four are rookies.
