Former Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff was a panelist on the Fox News program Fox News Specialists on Thursday, and was asked to give his take on the Colin Kaepernick situation.
“If I is was hitting .340, had 45 home runs last year and drove in 130 RBIs, I’m pretty sure even if I kneeled for the national anthem on the baseball field — I’d get my ass kicked in the clubhouse for sure — I would still have a job,” Huff said. “Because bottom line, organizations want to win, coaches want to win, players want to win, and the reason he doesn’t have a job, I mean he’s roughly, to be honest, a backup quarterback. You don’t want that distraction on your team. If I’m a player, and I’ve got a guy every day who comes in a kneels for the anthem and I have to answer questions from the media every single day about this — the game’s hard enough as it is mentally – but to have to deal with the media and these political agendas that are coming your way, I don’t want to deal with it.”
