The NBA announced their national television and Christmas Day schedules for the upcoming 2017-18 season on Thursday afternoon.
The Warriors will open the season at home against the new look Houston Rockets on October 17, who added star point guard Chris Paul to their already high powered offense this offseason. As expected, Golden State will face the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third season in a row on Christmas Day, also at Oracle Arena. Additionally, the Warriors will play on the road in New Orleans against the Pelicans on October 20 in their second game of the season, getting their first look at the Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins front court, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Three Warriors games revealed today
-Oct. 17th, opening/ring night: vs Rockets
-Oct. 20th: at Pelicans
-Christmas: vs Cavs in Oracle— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) August 10, 2017
The Warriors opened last season at home against the San Antonio Spurs, and were smacked 129-100 in Kevin Durant’s first game as a member of Golden State. Last season’s Christmas Day game also didn’t go as planned, when the Warriors blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead to the Cavaliers in their first game against Cleveland since blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals.
This is the 14th time in 16 seasons the Warriors are opening the season at home.
