Stephen Curry is a man of the people.
Need more proof? Don’t look any further than Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” in which the two-time NBA champion surprised a Navy veteran in his new home.
Timothy Birckhead enlisted in the Navy in 2000 after graduating high school. During his second tour in 2006, Birckhead began to experience pain and weakness in his legs. His health forced him to separate from the Navy in October 2007. Two years later, doctors diagnosed Birckhead with Hereditary Neuropathy with Liability to Pressure Palsies (HNPP). A condition that affects sensory and motor nerves, Birckhead now has increasing weakness in his limbs.
After living in a home that presented several challenges for Birckhead, “Home for Our Troops” presented the Navy vet with a specially outfitted house decked out to help Birckhead navigate his everyday life in a much easier manner.
In the video below, Birckhead was shown his “man cave,” filled with Golden State Warriors gear, which included a signed jersey from Curry.
The surprise didn’t stop there, however. Curry came out of the bathroom to welcome Birckhead into his new home. The rest of his family – especially Birckhead’s mother – was surprised to see the two-time MVP walk into the room.
“I heard a lot about your family and about your story,” Curry said to Birckhead. “Thank you for being a great inspiration to me.”
“When I’m on the court now, I’ll remember Tim is sitting in his man cave right now watching our games.”
