Krukow: Giants don’t have respect across the league, must earn it during second half of season

The San Francisco Giants ended a dreadful first half of the 2017 season on a high note, sweeping the Colorado Rockies in a three-game series at AT&T Park.

It’s a start, but will take a lot more of the same for the Giants, who sit at 30-51, to turn it around in the final 81 games of the season.

Mike Krukow joined Murph and Mac to discuss the “respect” that the Giants are playing for and how it can help build momentum into next season.

“I can sum it up it one word: respect,” Krukow said. “Because right now they don’t have it. And they need to get that back. Even if they don’t miraculously come back and make a playoff run this year, the respect carries into next year. These guys have to get it back together, and I think they’ve taken a nice step in that regard with the sweep against the Rockies.”

Krukow went on to talk about the importance of players in the clubhouse focusing on the right things while in the midst of a losing season.

“You look at little things in the clubhouse. You go through adversity. Are guys banding together? Are they talking about fishing trips in the offseason? Are they talking about playing golf in the offseason? Where is their mind? Where is their focus? You’ll find out the guys who love the game and the guys that are playing for a paycheck.”
