Sitting with a 30-51 record at the bottom of the NL West, the San Francisco Giants and their fans will take any sliver of good news that they can.
Especially if it comes from the farm system. Giants prospect Bryan Reynolds was named to the United States roster for the 2017 Futures Game. The game, which pits the best American-born prospects in the minor leagues against those from the rest of the world, will take place on July 9.
Reynolds is currently hitting .311 for the San Jose Giants, the organization’s high-A affiliate. Reynolds has four home runs, 15 doubles and 7 triples thus far as well. Selected in the second round of the 2016 draft, the switch-hitting Reynolds is playing center field down in the minor leagues.
Reynolds helped lead Vanderbilt University to back-to-back College World Series finals in 2014 and 2015, winning it all in 2014 as a freshman. He will have the opportunity to show off his talents against other up-and-coming stars from around the league.
No Giants prospects were named to the World roster. The Futures Game will take place in Marlins Park in Miami and will help kick off the 2017 All-Star break.
