In their continued efforts to get new looks at their minor league talent, the Giants are reportedly calling up Jae-gyun Hwang from AAA Sacramento. Hwang’s status has been much-discussed in recent days, as he had an opt-out awaiting him on July 1 if he didn’t get called up to the bigs by then.

Hwang hit .287 with seven home runs and 44 RBI so far in Sacramento while playing first base, third base, and left field. The 29-year-old South Korean played in the KBO for 10 seasons before coming to the MLB and hit 53 home runs in 2015 and 2016 combined.
Stay tuned for a corresponding roster move to clear space for Hwang, whether he’s activated tonight or at a later time. First pitch against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday is set for 7:15 p.m.
