For the second time this week, the San Francisco Giants have dug into the AAA ranks and called up a relief pitcher.

On Friday, the Giants announced they’ve recalled left-hander Steven Okert from AAA Sacramento and designated right-hander Bryan Morris for assignment.

Earlier this week, San Francisco optioned reliever Derek Law to AAA and called up Kyle Crick, who made his Major League debut in the Giants’ 12-11 loss against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday evening.

Crick came in to relieve Morris, who lasted 2/3 of an inning and gave up five earned runs on five hits and a walk in the loss. On Monday, Law allowed four earned runs without recording an out, and was sent back to the minor leagues on Tuesday.

Okert was the Giants’ 4th round draft pick in 2012, and made his Major League debut with the organization back in 2016. Okert spent an early portion of the 2017 season with the Giants, but was sent back to the minors after recording a 6.23 ERA over his first 19 appearances.

Okert is now the second left-handed reliever in the Giants bullpen, as he joins fellow southpaw Josh Osich.
