Spears would be ‘a little shocked’ if a team gave Iguodala $20 million

What once seemed like a sure thing has now become one of the more pressing issues for the Warriors this offseason. Re-signing Andre Iguodala will be key for Golden State as the team seeks to repeat as NBA Champions next season.

The news broke Monday that Iguodala will seriously consider offers from other teams when his impending free agency begins in July. The Vertical’s report even said a two-way player like Iguodala could command $20 million on the open market.

But The Undefeated’s Marc Spears joined Gary & Larry on Monday and said he didn’t know if Iguodala’s price would climb quite that high if he tests the waters of free agency.

“Hey if some team is going to give Andre Igoudala $20 million, he ain’t getting that in Golden State. He better take his two rings and take the money. I’d be a little shocked if somebody gave him $20 million though. When the dust settles if a guy like Andre Igoudala leaves perhaps it makes it easier for the Warriors to get [Ian Clark],” Spears said.

Obviously the Warriors would love to retain Iguodala’s services, but they would probably come in with an offer more in the range of $10 million per season, so we’ll see what some teams decide to offer the 33-year-old.

The full interview with Spears is available below. To listen to his comments on Iguodala’s free agency, jump to the 7:31 mark.
