Sleepy Floyd on 1050: Warriors look to be a “juggernaut” in NBA for years to come

The Golden State Warriors organization and its fans – deservedly so – are in the midst of celebrating their most recent title. That excitement doesn’t seem likely to wear off soon, as this era of Dubs dominance appears to just be getting started.

With four All-Stars leading a team that plays a selfless brand of basketball, bench players that embrace their roles, head coach Steve Kerr and his staff continuing to fine-tune the roster and a strong foundation in the front office spearheaded by GM Bob Myers, the Warriors have the blueprint that other organizations around the league will surely attempt to emulate.

Former Warrior Sleepy Floyd joined The Audible on 1050 on Tuesday and pointed out how the Warriors are going to be a dominant force for the foreseeable future.

“It’s a total team effort. No egos involved. Such a selfless team on and off the court. It’s a pleasure to watch them mature throughout the year and develop into what they are, which is a juggernaut in the NBA for years to come,” Floyd said.

“Golden State has a real group of guys that understands it and gets the bigger picture. There are going to be other organizations that seek other superstars to put it together, but you really have to find the right personality and right talent to mix in with the system that is in place.”

Safe to say the Warriors have found that system. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were all drafted and developed into All-Stars that enjoy playing with each other. The culture established translated into being able to pry Kevin Durant away from the Oklahoma City Thunder, the only organization he had ever been a part of during the first nine years of his career. Bashed by many for his move to Golden State, Durant delivered when it mattered most, winning the Finals MVP.

“It shows how much fortitude [Durant] has as a player, as a person. To make a decision like that, to come to Golden State, under that kind of scrutiny. But he did what made him happy and the style of ball that he wanted to play moving forward in his career,” Floyd said.

“This is going to be an amazing ride.”

With Durant – alongside Curry, Thompson and Green – all still in their twenties and leading the way for years to come, this “ride” doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon.
