They may be duking it out on the court as rivals now and for the foreseeable future, but apparently Kevin Durant and LeBron James had a unique off-court incident during the 2011 NBA lockout.

According to an ESPN report from Chris Haynes, James and Durant collaborated on a secret hip-hop track during the lockout while the pair was working out in James’s hometown of Akron, Ohio.

“One person who has heard the song says he recalls Durant rapping the first verse, James hopping on for the second and then Durant finishing it off,” Haynes wrote. “The song’s title and theme are unknown, as are its whereabouts. Durant, who produces beats in his spare time, is believed to have provided the instrumentals.”

Haynes said he approached KD and LeBron about the song and both confirmed its existence but laughed it off and indicated there’s no plans for the song to be released. He went on to cite several sources who said the song had quality lyrics and flow and even added that it was considered for the soundtrack for Durant’s movie, “Thunderstruck,” that was released in 2012.

At the time, LeBron was a 26-year-old star for the Miami Heat and Durant a 23-year-old budding star for the Thunder. The two faced off in the 2012 Finals, when the Heat came out on top for LeBron’s first title.
