The Giants will be playing without outfielder Denard Span Monday night. Span was scratched from the lineup due to soreness in his left hand.
Span has inflamed and bruised left hand. Can’t grip a bat. Just caused by being jammed. No X-Rays yet. Awaiting doc. #sfgiants

No x-rays have been scheduled for Span yet, who said he had been battling the soreness for about a week.
Giants CF Denard Span out of lineup; sore L hand. Got jammed too often, he said. Doesn’t know how long he’ll be out. Has not undergone tests

Span was originally scheduled to play in his usual spot — batting leadoff and playing center field. Joe Panik will now lead off and Gorkys Hernandez will take over in center and bat eighth.
The Giants will take on the Cubs in the first of a four-game series at 5:05 p.m. (weather permitting). Ty Blach (1-2, 4.15 ERA) will face John Lackey (4-3, 4.37 ERA).
