Zaza Pachulia: ‘It’s really stupid’ to think play on Kawhi was intentionally dirty

It would be difficult to discuss the Warriors’ 25-point comeback against the Spurs in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals without mentioning that back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year, Kawhi Leonard left with an ankle injury in the third quarter and never returned.

Here’s how it happened.

Pachulia called the idea that it was a dirty play “really stupid” after the game and dismissed any notion he was trying to hurt the Spurs’ NBA MVP candidate.

“I’m an athlete too, I know how it feels and I don’t wish that [on] anybody. Even though we are facing against them, I’m pretty sure we are capable of beating anybody.”

No word yet on Leonard’s status for Tuesday night’s Game 2 at Oracle. Expect Jonathon Simmons to start if Kawhi doesn’t suit up.
