Left-hander Dominic Mezza, 22, retired all 27 batters for the Augusta GreenJackets in a 9-0 victory over the Lexington Legends, tossing just 85 pitches and striking out nine.
Mazza has a 3.48 ERA in four starts for Augusta this season after posting a 3.93 ERA in 14 starts with Augusta in 2016.
A Walnut Creek native, Mazza attended Clayton Valley High School and played collegiately at UC Santa Barbara. The Giants drafted him in the 22nd round of the 2015 MLB Draft. Mazza was the pitcher who gave up a home run to Tim Tebow in his first professional at-bat.
