Holding onto the worst record in the National League 19 games into the season, the San Francisco Giants have made a move their fans have been hoping for. The club has called up infielder Christian Arroyo, ranked as the 89th best prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, rrom Triple-A Sacramento as first reported by Alex Pavlovic of NBCSports Bay Area. Arroyo will be in the lineup Monday night at AT&T Park for the first game of the season against the Dodgers. Outfielder Drew Stubbs has also reportedly been called up.

Arroyo, 21, has just 16 games of Triple-A experience under his belt after spending all of 2016 with Double-A Richmond. Arroyo has been smoking the ball so far this season, posting a .446 average with seven doubles and three home runs. Arroyo also had a four hit game on Sunday that included a walk-off.
Giants general manager Bobby Evans said last week that the club was not planning on calling Arroyo up until their was an opening at his best position, third base, that is currently occupied by Eduardo Nunez. Arroyo’s incredible production, combined with a sweep at the hands of the Colorado Rockies this weekend, apparently changed his mind.
Arroyo will start at third base and bat sixth on Monday against the Dodgers.
