On Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference postseason for 2017. With their regular season goal accomplished, Golden State can now look forward to the playoffs. Warriors coach Steve Kerr joined Tom Tolbert and Ray Ratto to talk about the team’s mindset as they try to win another championship.
Kerr says that he will start to look at Golden State’s potential first-round opponent, the Portland Trail Blazers.
“Portland plays tonight, and I’m going to watch their game,” Kerr said. “They’ve got a relatively big edge. They have basically a two-game lead. They’re one-game up, but they’ve got the tiebreaker, so Denver’s got to beat them by two games with four or five left.
“We’re starting to zero in and really lock in on Portland but we know it can change, too. But you just keep looking and thinking about matchups and how you might play. And now that we’re guaranteed to have the one seed, it’s a little bit easier zero in and focus on that but it’s all already begun for our advanced scouts and our video department putting together the work for the players and the video stuff that they’ll have. It’s all in the process right now.”
