Some things you just shouldn’t joke about.
Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar visited local Cleveland sports radio station WKNR Wednesday morning, and made a “joke” about 49ers legend Dwight Clark’s recent ALS diagnosis, and how it potentially affected his decision making when he was the general manager of the Cleveland Browns from 1999-2002.
“We had a bad weekend with Gayle Sayers being diagnosed, Dwight Clark with ALS,” Kosar said. “I can make a joke about his struggles in picking players when he was here. It almost makes me wonder if maybe it started earlier.”
A clip of a rim shot played directly after.
Clark said in a statement that he didn’t begin feeling the physical symptoms of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) until 2014. Though the disease has been linked with head trauma and CTE, ALS is not known to have degenerative mental effects in it’s early stages, rendering Kosar’s joke both unfunny and illogical.
