The Warriors honored the passing of legendary NBA broadcaster Craig Sager in a manner best suited to his contagious, jovial personality on Thursday evening.
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr addressed the crowd at Oracle Arena before Thursday night’s game against the Knicks, to eulogize Sager who passed away earlier that afternoon after a long battle with leukemia. Kerr, who worked with Sager as an analyst for TNT from 2003-07, spoke about Sager’s ‘zest for life,’ and said that nobody had more joy in the way that they lived.
In that vein, instead of the customary moment of silence, Kerr asked the crowd at Oracle Arena to stand and applaud for a Moment of Joy as a tribute to Sager.
