Sagar was first diagnosed with the disease in 2014, but was pushed into remission due to a bone marrow transplant given by his son Craig Jr. The disease returned in March 2016, when doctors told Sagar he had 3-6 months to live.
Sagar covered the NBA for TNT for 20 years. The network posted a tribute video of Sager on Twitter.
