The San Francisco 49er defense has allowed the most rushing yards per game this season (174.5) and is coming off a 45-16 defeat to the Buffalo Bills last weekend where they were gashed for 313 on the ground.
49ers radio analyst Tim Ryan called the performance unacceptable on Friday morning when he joined the Murph and Mac Show.
“I went home and watched the tape and it was far worse than I thought it was being there,” Ryan said. “Just fundamental, football 101, taking on blocks. Stuff you learned in Pop Warner, or at least I did a long time ago.”
“Unacceptable really. That’s not pro football. If they play run defense like that…it is going to be an unbelievably long year”
