Steph Curry does not want his impending free agency to be a distraction this season for the Golden State Warriors.
And he made it clear he has no plans on going anywhere.
“I want to be back here,” Curry told reporters at Warriors training camp. “I like playing here. And, that’s it. The rest of it is about what we’re going to do this year.”
Curry signed a four-year $44 million deal in 2012, and he’ll make $12 million this season. He’s currently the fourth-highest paid player on the Warriors behind Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston will join Curry as free agents after the 2017 season.
There’s almost no scenario that would coerce Curry into leaving the Warriors. The two-time MVP said he won’t really consult with Durant how to handle a free agent frenzy.
Last season Curry averaged 30.1 points per game, 6.4 assists and 5.4 rebounds a game.
