The gravity of Colin Kaepernick’s protest was put into perspective Thursday, when the 49ers quarterback hit the cover of Time magazine.

On Tuesday, Kaepernick pledged to donate $100,000 a month for the next 10 months to help community organizations. He will create a website to track where the money is going.
But he also isn’t loosening his stance on how he sees America.
“There’s a lot of racism disguised as patriotism in this country,” Kaepernick said. “And people don’t like to address that. And they don’t like to address what the root of this protest is.”
Kaepernick received praise from rival Seahawks Doug Baldwin and Richard Sherman on Wednesday. The 49ers travel to Seattle for a Week 3 game this Sunday.
