Even if you take issue with Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the national anthem, there’s no denying he’s making good on his claims to do more than just raise awareness.

With his jersey sales now the top selling piece of merchandise on NFLShop.com, Kapernick announced that he will be giving back all proceeds he receives from those sales “into the communities,” via Instagram post Wednesday morning.

“I wasn’t expecting my jersey sales to jump to number one because of this,” Kaepernick wrote in the post. “But it shows the people’s belief that we can achieve justice and equality for ALL!”

“The only way I can repay you for the support is to return the favor by donating all the proceeds I receive from my jersey sales back into the communities!”

This announcement comes a few days after Kaepernick declared that he would be donating the first $1 million he makes this season to charities that he believes will help communities in need around the country.

NFL players do receive a percentage of their jersey sales, but what percentage that is has not been made public by the league.

Kaepernick will open the season as the 49ers backup quarterback for their season opener against the Los Angeles Rams Monday night.
