SANTA CLARA — Carlos Hyde sustained a concussion in the first quarter of the 49ers’ game against the Packers Friday and is going through the league’s concussion protocol, the team announced.

Hyde, 24, is coming back from left foot surgery that cut his 2015 season short. Expected to be a bellcow running back for the 49ers, Hyde now has just 15 days to get clearance to play in the regular season opener against the Rams on Sept. 12.

Hyde rushed for 30 yards on four attempts, including a 27-yard gain to set up the 49ers’ only touchdown of the game. Hyde will likely miss the preseason finale against the Chargers, which would leave him with 85 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries this exhibition season.
