The 13-year veteran became a fan favorite in San Francisco for his consistent contributions and blue-collar attitude, but did not appear to be in the 49ers’ plans under new head coach Chip Kelly.
In his three years with San Francisco, Boldin was undoubtedly the top receiver on the roster. He recorded 1,000 yard seasons in 2013 and 2014 before the 49ers’ overall struggles on offense in 2015 season led to a decrease in his statistics. Boldin, 35, reeled in 16 touchdowns as a 49er and caught 237 passes for 3,030 yards.
