Former Giants relief pitcher Jean Machi was arrested early Thursday morning in Iowa for public intoxication and urinating in public, according to the Des Moines Register.
Machi, who pitched for the Giants from 2012 through the middle of the 2015 season and had a 3.24 ERA in 161 innings with the team, had been pitching for the Cubs’ AAA team in Des Moines but was released shortly before the arrest.
The Register said that Machi was seen urinating on a car, and was asked to stop by the car’s owner before allegedly trying to start a fight over the incident. Machi later denied urinating on the car to police. He was booked into the Polk County Jail at 2:01 a.m. on Thursday.
