Amazingly, Kevin Durant played in front of a Warriors home crowd on Tuesday for the first time since departing Golden State in 2019.
Despite his unceremonious exit, Durant was greeted as a Golden State legend, treated to a tribute video and a raucous standing ovation from the Chase Center crowd.
It was an appropriate greeting for a player who Joe Lacob said will have a statue outside of the arena one day. In just three seasons with Golden State, Durant won two titles and two NBA Finals MVPs.
Though he had multiple chances to play in front of fans at Chase Center in previous years, injuries kept Durant out of the lineup for the past four seasons.
