ESPN’s Marc J. Spears really likes the moves the Warriors have made this offseason, and agrees with new Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. who said he thinks the Dubs are a top seven team on paper. That would be an improvement from last season, when Golden State just barely finished sixth in the West.
It’s not just the additions they’ve made this offseason according to Spears that have made them improve.
“I always remind myself that Wiggins was out for so long,” Spears said on KNBR. “That had an affect on their record and who they had to play and all that, them being on the road. I think that the Jordan Poole issues hung over them bad and drained the team as well.”
Spears also named a player he thinks the Warriors can add for depth purposes.
“I think the Warriors should still add one more body,” Spears said. “When you were in Minnesota you saw Gorgui Dieng a little bit. I don’t think he’s signed yet. They could add a big like that, that could protect the rim, I think it would be beneficial.
“I expect [Moses] Moody to take a step up, I expect [Jonathan] Kuminga to take a step up. I still expect Chris Paul to start at the beginning of the season and see how that flows. There is a depth that is needed for a championship team that they have now that is needed.”
