The Warriors offseason can’t move on until the Draymond Green shoe drops, but after it does, what other players should they target?
Marc J. Spears joined Tolbert & Copes on Thursday afternoon, and said that two Lakers players who were recently cut should get a long look from Golden State.
“Mo Bamba, I still think that’s a young, talented guy that still has some potential to do some nice things in this league,” Spears said on KNBR. “He’s a seven-footer who can shoot 3s, he’s long, he can catch alley-oops, he can give them some size.”
Bamba is still just 25 years old, and is a former No. 6 overall pick. Bamba didn’t play much for the Lakers after his trade from the Magic, but he averaged 10 points and six rebounds with Orlando back in 2021-22. For a team whose tallest player is the 6-foot-9 Kevon Looney, the 7-footer might be worth taking a flier on.
The next player in question is Malik Beasley, a talented wing who has had much more success than Bamba at the NBA level. Beasley is an elite athlete who has shot 37% from 3 throughout his career and can be a volume scorer off the bench. That is exactly what the Warriors are looking for after trading away Jordan Poole last week.
