It doesn’t sound like Bob Myers will be taking a year off.
Just one day after Myers held a press conference in which he announced he’ll be stepping away from the Warriors’ front office, Front Office Sports published a report that Myers is in preliminary talks with ESPN about a possible position.
ESPN has expressed an interest in hiring Bob Myers, the Golden State Warriors executive who stepped down as president and general manager on Tuesday.
The talks are very early on, sources told Front Office Sports.
The two-time executive of the year is likely to be barraged by offers from other NBA franchises.
Myers to ESPN had already been rumored as a possiblity before he announced he’d be leaving the Warriors. Myers started a podcast on ESPN’s platform last season, “Lead by Example” with ESPN and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions.
Myers interviewed the likes of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
It is unclear what Myers’ gig with ESPN would be, but he would like join their “NBA Today” or “NBA Countdown” panels.
