Michael Wilbon joined Papa & Lund on Monday afternoon, and gave his take on who he believes will win the Warriors vs. Lakers second round series:
I expect Klay to be Klay again, I know he had a rough game. I’m one of those people who thinks Klay Thompson is like the most underrated player of this generation. Scottie Pippen was in his generation. I fully expect Klay to bounce back and have great games, maybe entirely great series and Golden State’s going to need him to do that. Because it can’t just be Steph. LeBron and Darvin Ham are cooking up stuff now, and blitz him and try and do things maybe other teams and coaches wouldn’t do.
The team that is greatest in this series is going to win to me and that’s why the Warriors have an advantage.
I just think they have too much firepower. And every other day doesn’t help the Lakers, we’ve seen them have a little bit of fatigue. I also think that Looney vs. Anthony Davis is an interesting matchup that people are initially talking about. Anthony Davis is going to have his hands full. C’mon, Anthony Davis just had 20 rebounds twice in a series. Looney is sort of the new version of Dennis Rodman without the histrionics. He can go get you 20 rebounds in a playoff game, he doesn’t need but 8 or 10 points. The Warriors have three great defensive players now. You’ve still got Draymond even if he maybe wasn’t the defensive player he was a couple years ago, he’s still great. Wiggins is the best on ball defender as we saw in the Celtics series and then you’ve got Looney.
The Lakers are going to have their hands again full with people defending and people don’t think of the Warriors that way because you were marveling at Steph and Klay.
Jordan Poole better come to play. He better come to play. Sometimes it feels like he’s getting a little full of himself. He better produce consistently.
