Watch: Joc Pederson scorches line drive so hard it breaks a glove

The ball left Joc Pederson’s bat at 109.1 mph, and ripped through Andrew Vaughn’s glove nearly as quickly.

Pederson’s third-inning single against the Chicago White Sox broke the first baseman’s mit, requiring him to find a replacement between outs.

Only in baseball can you see something new in any game.

Pederson, in a full-time designated hitter role, has been seeing the ball well to start the 2023 season. He homered once in the Yankees series and again on Monday in Chicago. He also got robbed of a third homer by Luis Robert Jr.

The Giants retained Pederson on the $19.65 million qualifying offer this winter. He’s expected to be one of the club’s primary sluggers in the middle of the order.
