Even Kyrie Irving doesn’t want to associate with Dillon Brooks.
After the Grizzlies beat the Mavericks 112-108 on Monday night ahead of a rumored Ja Morant return on Wednesday, Brooks took off his jersey to swap it with Irving, who had 28 points, 4 rebounds, no assists, a steal and a block. Brooks had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal and guarded Irving for much of the game.
Afterwards, Brooks went to swap jerseys with Irving and at least got half of the job done. In the clip above, you can see Irving hand over his jersey, say something to Brooks and then walk away as Brooks looks down, now holding both his and Irving’s jersey.
Irving had a pretty on-brand explanation when asked about the swap.
“I’ll probably get it next time,” Irving said. “Not this time. I was really onto the next thing, my thought process-wise.”
Irving’s explanation doesn’t really answer the question and also has the hilarious bonus of using the phrase: “thought process-wise.”
Will Irving ever get Brooks’ jersey? Stay tuned to find out.
