Jimmy Garoppolo will see a familiar face in Las Vegas next year.
Former 49ers teammate Jordan Willis is also joining the Raiders on a one-year deal, according to Matt Barrows of The Athletic. Wills has been a reserve defensive end for San Francisco since 2020, appearing in 26 games and sacking the quarterback 2.5 times during that stretch.
Willis’ most memorable moment by far in Red & Gold came during the 2021 NFC divisional round game, when he blocked a punt in the fourth quarter of a low-scoring game at Lambeau Field, leading to a late game-tying touchdown. SF would go onto win the game 13-10.
Willis joins Samson Ebukam, Charles Omenihu and Hassan Ridgeway as defensive linemen the 49ers have lost during this free agency period. They’ve signed Javon Hargrave, Clelin Ferrell and re-signed Kevin Givens and T.Y. McGill. Kerry Hyder and Maurice Hurst remain on the open market.
