The Warriors officially made Anthony Lamb a full-time player on Friday, converting his two-way deal into a standard NBA contract.
The move allows Lamb, 25, to continue playing for the Warriors in their stretch run. The forward has appeared in 50 games — the maximum allowed for a two-way player.
Lamb is averaging 7.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.1 minutes per game. He’s shooting 47.5% from the field and 37.9% from deep.
Lamb’s floor-spacing ability and quick decision-making has made him a pleasant surprise for Golden State this year. With a bench unit thinner than the team hoped heading into the year, Lamb has provided consistency at the power forward position.
The Warriors (36-34) signed Lamb, a University of Vermont product, to a two-way deal last October. Because James Wiseman didn’t work out, Andre Iguodala has been limited to eight games, and Moses Moody has been mostly unable to crack the rotation, Lamb was relied upon more than anyone could have expected.
Lamb has made three starts this season. In an early January game in which Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were unavailable, Lamb dropped 26 points off the bench against Orlando.
After converting Lamb, Golden State signed Lester Quinones to a two-way deal. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has averaged 19.8 points per game for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G-League this year. This past Wednesday, Quinones scored a season-high 46 points in a win over the Salt Lake City Stars.
