The Houston Texans are hiring 49ers passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik as their new offensive coordinator, according to ESPN.

Slowik follows former 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans to Houston after he was hired as their head coach. Both were on the 49ers’ staff for the previous six seasons.

This is the first coordinator gig for Slowik, 35, who just completed his first season in the passing game coordinator role. Before that he was an offensive assistant and the team’s defensive quality control coach for two years apiece.

Slowik has his work cut out for him in Houston. The Texans have do not have a clear starting quarterback next season, but do pick No. 2 in the upcoming NFL Draft.
