One of the 49ers’ most coveted front office assets is staying where he is, for now.

49ers Assistant General Manager Adam Peters, who was a finalist for the New York Giants job last year and has been a hot name as a potential first-time general manager over the past several years, was requested for interviews by both the Tennesee Titans and Arizona Cardinals.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Peters turned down both requests.

Rapoport said Peters is focused on the 49ers’ playoff run.

It’s an interesting situation that begs the question of whether Peters is turning down the jobs entirely, or just waiting until the season is over to pursue opportunities.

Peters was promoted to assistant general manager last year after spending four as the team’s vice president of player personnel. His previous eight season were spent with the Denver Broncos.

He certainly wields a lot of say within the 49ers’ front office, and, along with VP of Player Personnel Ran Carthon — who interviewed with the Giants and Chicago Bears last cycle, and has been requested by the Titans and Cardinals this cycle — is expected to become a general manager in the future.
