49ers-Seahawks Inactives: Purdy’s a go

With a short week, the 49ers had another injury worry at quarterback. Brock Purdy suffered an oblique and rib injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. In a normal week, it likely wouldn’t have been much of a concern.

But without any real practice, and limited time before Thursday night’s potential division-deciding game, there was a question as to whether Purdy would play.

That question has been answered. It was reported by Adam Schefter earlier in the day that Purdy would start, and the rookie was not named on the team’s inactive list.

Deebo Samuel leads the list of inactives:

  • QB Jimmy Garoppolo
  • DB Tarvarius Moore
  • CB Samuel Womack III
  • DL Kevin Givens
  • OL Nick Zakelj
  • WR Deebo Samuel
  • LB Curtis Robinson

Before the game, the 49ers promoted defensive lineman Akeem Spence to the active roster from the practice squad and placed defensive lineman Hassan Ridgeway on injured reserve. Thats significant, given that Ridgeway could potentially return in the playoffs, but the 49ers only have two return slots available, and both Elijah Mitchell and Javon Kinlaw are on the list.

San Francisco also activated a pair of veterans in corner Janoris Jenkins and wide receiever Willie Snead IV with (Deebo) Samuel and Samuel (Womack) both out.

For the Seahawks, they’ll have star rookie back Kenneth Walker III available, but their already flimsy run defense takes a hit with Al Woods out.

Seattle’s inactives:

  • CB Artie Burns
  • CB Tre Brown
  • RB DeeJay Dallas
  • RB Tony Jones Jr.
  • T Jake Curhan
  • NT Al Woods

With a win on Thursday, the 49ers would secure the NFC West at the earliest point since 2011, and sweep the Seahawks for the first time since that same season.
