Every year it’s rumored that Odell Beckham Jr. is coming to the 49ers and every year he does not. It appears 2022 is going to be no different.
After rumors heated up that San Francisco would be suitors for the former Pro Bowl receiver, the 49ers were not included on the list of teams he will be visiting according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. In December, Beckham will visit the Giants, Bills and Cowboys in that order. The Chiefs and Ravens have an outside chance to receive visits as well.
John Lynch did not rule out that the 49ers would consider Beckham, but that has more to do with the fact that Lynch — and Kyle Shanahan for that matter — say that about every player.
Though Beckham was very good in the playoffs for the Rams last year, it makes sense that the 49ers aren’t champing at the bit to sign him. First off, they just completed a massive trade for Christian McCaffrey, and now have arguably the best stable of offensive weapons in the league. In Monday night’s blowout win over the Cardinals, McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and George Kittle overwhelmed the Arizona defense.
There’s also the fact that Beckham is coming off a major injury, and gets injured a ton. Unless he could be got for very cheap, it’s probably not the wisest investment at this point.
