As he is wont to do with consistency during the regular season, Zaidi and Co. claimed Rockies catcher Dom Núñez off waivers on Wednesday. Núñez played in 14 games last season for the Rockies and 111 games overall in three seasons with the club. During that time, Núñez slashed .180/.280/.373 while hitting 12 homers.

The left-handed hitting Núñez, 27, is a native of Elk Grove, and was selected in the sixth round by the Rockies in 2013. The Giants are looking for depth at the catcher position, as they head into the offseason with Austin Wynns as their backup catcher behind Joey Bart.

OF Austin Dean, OF Bryce Johnson, IF Taylor Jones, RHP Zack Littell, C/IF Ford Proctor cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento. IF Isan Díaz was selected to the Giants 40-man roster.

The Giants roster currently stands at 31 players + 8 players on the 60-day IL
