Kyle Shanahan’s early-week optimism was not vindicated.
The 49ers will be without star defensive linemen Arik Armstead on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Shanahan said early in the week that Armstead should be “alright,” after suffering a foot injury, but he didn’t practice once this past week, and was made inactive for Sunday night.
Also inactive is edge rusher Kemoko Turay, who was excused for a personal matter. Below are the 49ers’ inactives:
- DL Arik Armstead
- DE Kemoko Turay
- OL Daniel Brunskill (hamstring)
- RB Tyrion Davis-Price (high ankle sprain)
- TE Tyler Kroft (knee)
- OL Nick Zakelj
The Broncos got a ton of positive news, with the most notable names active being CB Pat Surtain II, WR Jerry Jeudy, WR KJ Hamler and OL Quinn Meinerz.
Below is their list of inactives:
- WR Jalen Virgil
- WR Tyrie Cleveland
- CB Darius Phillips
- S Delarrin Turner-Yell
- OLB Jonathon Cooper
- OL Billy Turner
- DL Eyioma Uwazurike
While the Broncos offense has struggled, the return of three key offensive players could prove substantial.
