The Giants have the second-oldest roster in baseball. Time and time again, the perils of that age continue to show up.

The team provided some injury updates on Monday, with a few of those older names on the list.

Prime among those is Evan Longoria, whose MRI revealed a Grade 1 right hamstring strain after sustaining the injury last weekend in Los Angeles. Longoria’s Giants career has been plagued by injuries and he told the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser that he’s considered retiring after this season.

Brandon Crawford has begun a running progression as he recovers from left knee inflammation.

Meanwhile, Matt Boyd, who’s progressing back from left flexor tendon surgery, threw a 20-pitch bullpen session in Arizona.

Other notable news is with respect to Curt Casali (oblique strain) and Trevor Rosenthal (left hamstring strain). Casali is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, while Rosenthal’s scheduled to throw a live batting practice at the Giants’ minor league complex in Arizona.

The statuses of Jose Alvarez (left elbow rehab), Mauricio Llovera (right flexor strain rehab) and Tommy La Stella (COVID IL) remain the same.

San Francisco kicks off a three-game slate in Arizona on Monday.
