Stephen Curry is giving Charles Barkley a little taste of his own medicine.
The current and former basketball star are both participating in this weekend’s American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Curry, an excellent amateur golfer, is a 12-1 underdog to win the tournament. Barkley meanwhile is 2.6-1…to finish in the top 70. For context, there are only 87 golfers in the field.
When asked if he thought Barkley would be able to achieve that modest accomplishment, Curry didn’t mince words with a smile on his face.
“No, hell no,” Curry said at a Thursday news conference. “Clip that, send it to him, let him play it on every tee box. There’s no way he’s doing it.
“As much faith as Chuck has had in the Warriors and jump shooting teams winning championships, that’s the amount of faith I have him hitting the top 70.”
The highest Barkley has finished at this tournament — which he attends annually — was last year’s 76th place finish.
Barkley’s odds to finish in the top 70 have improved after opening at 5-to-1, thanks to a ton of bets on the NBA analyst. The largest bet on Barkley to finish in the top 70 is $2,000, while the largest bet for him to win the tournament at 7,500-1 is $10 according to Caesars.
