Well, that’s not ideal.

As the Warriors prepare for their Summer League endeavors to kick off with the California Classic this weekend — a three-day slate of games between the Warriors, Lakers, Kings and Heat at Chase Center — they broke down their plans for their young players, beginning with some unfortunate news.

The team announced Ryan Rollins, a 19-year-old combo guard from Toledo, and the team’s 44th overall pick has a newly-discovered injury. Rollins has a foot fracture in his fifth metatarsal which was only discovered during his on-boarding physical.

Rollins will not compete in Summer League, which puts his chances of making the roster in some question.

Golden State clearly liked what they saw from Rollins, a 6-foot-4 athletic, scoring guard with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, to the point that they traded up to get him on draft night. Golden State sent the 51st overall pick and $2 million to the Atlanta Hawks to get him.

As for James Wiseman and the Warriors’ 28th overall pick, Patrick Baldwin Jr., neither will play in the upcoming California Classic this weekend, but both are aiming to participate in Summer League, according to coach Seth Cooper.

Wiseman participated in contact practice on Wednesday, Cooper said, with “the goal of getting him ready to play live in games towards the end of Summer League.”.

Moses Moody, meanwhile, will play in the California Classic this weekend, while Jonathan Kuminga, who is home in the Congo with his brother — who is playing for the national team — will not. He may or may not play in the Summer League.

“The plan will be for Moses to play this weekend,” Cooper said. “I don’t know exactly how many games that will be. He did get a little bit of time off since we finished, so he practiced today. He will play. I don’t know exactly what that will look like, but he’ll be out there this weekend.”

The net of all this is that it seems unlikely the Warriors will get to play their two most recent draft picks on the court with the likes of some combination of Moody, Wiseman, Kuminga and Jordan Poole during Summer League. If it does happen, it would be towards the tail end of the slate.
