‘Fake Klay Thompson’ says he’s been banned from Chase Center for life

Dawson Gurley, a Klay Thompson look alike who goes by the moniker Fake Klay Thompson, was spotted outside of Chase Center before Monday’s Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Unfortunately for him, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be entering the arena any longer.

A few hours before tip off, Gurley posted a series of tweets saying that he’d been banned for life from the Warriors’ home area. Gurley said the reason he was banned is because he was let into the arena by security guards and shot around on the court for 10 minutes. Apparently at some point, security realized he wasn’t the real Klay Thompson and kicked him out before banning him. Fake Klay says he bought $10K worth of tickets for the game that were not refunded.

Fake Klay also posted a picture of the letter he was issued by the Chase Center’s vice president of security, Brian J. Herbert, saying he was banned. The letter says he “deliberately deceived” Chase Center personnel and that he “criminally trespassed.” The letter does not appear to say he was banned for life, however, but does say he has been banned.

Fake Klay eventually conceded on Twitter that he deserved to be banned from the arena, but did not like the notion that he trespassed since he says he was let in.
