Don’t do it, Chuck!
After the Warriors clinched their first Finals berth in three years and their sixth in eight years, Warriors fans at Thrive City, just outside of Chase Center, let Charles Barkley hear it.
This time, they started throwing things at him, too, with a few gold t-shirts landing on the set desk in front of him, followed by what looked like some other items in the background, including some water.
Barkley wound up, looking like he was going to throw something back at the fans. Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith tried to make sure he didn’t actually launch his mug in return, pleading with him.
“Chuck, Chuck, sit down,” Johnson said. “Come on, Chuck… It’s a celebration. Let’s hope that’s all it is.”
Shaq, meanwhile, seemed to be enjoying the whole thing.
Barkley had been ripping the city of San Francisco all series long, referring to it as a dirty city and saying, “I hate San Francisco.” Warriors fans let him hear it earlier in the series.
He acted particularly upset after the Mavericks won Game 4 and he had to return to the city, calling it a “dirty ass city.” It’s hard to imagine he’ll be welcomed back any time soon.
