Another day, another trade with the Mariners.

For the fourth time in three weeks, San Francisco and Seattle has swapped assets. This time the Giants have acquired OF Stuart Fairchild while Mariners got IF Alex Blandino and cash in return. Fairchild will report to Triple-A Sacramento.

Fairchild was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Friday. That combined with the opening on the roster following the trade of Mauricio Dubon opened up the possibility for the trade.

The Giants previously traded 1B Mike Ford to Seattle for cash on May 12, RHP Prelander Berroa for 2B Donovan Walton on May 11 and acquired 3B Kevin Padlo to for cash on April 26.

Fairchild has appeared in 14 Triple-A games in 2022 (10 with Reno, 4 with Tacoma), batting .245 (13×53) with 3 home runs and 6 RBI.

The Seattle native attended Seattle Preparatory School before attending Wake Forest University. The right-handed hitting and throwing outfielder was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Wake Forest. In 355 career minor league games, Fairchild is batting .272 (342×1259) with 189 runs, 70 doubles, 17 triples, 35 home runs, 165 RBI, 48 stolen bases and 137 walks.

Blandino, 29, has appeared in 24 games with Triple-A Sacramento, batting .183 (15×82) with 13 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run, 9 RBI, 13 walks and 1 stolen base. He hit safely in 8 of 10 games from April 13–26, batting .263 (10×38) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 3 RBI, 4 walks and 1 stolen base. He signed with the Giants as a minor league free agent on Nov. 4, 2021.

Blandino was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1st round (29th overall) in the 2014 MLB First- Year Player Draft out of Stanford University. He made his Major League debut with the Reds on April 10, 2018 at Philadelphia. Blandino has appeared in 135 games over parts of 3 Major League seasons (2018, 2019, 2021), batting .226 (53×234) with 29 runs scored, 9 doubles, 2 home runs, 16 RBI, 31 walks and 1 stolen base.
