The Warriors may have seen the last of Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies star left Game 3 with a noticeable limp that led to a host of ill-advised, confounding accusations levied towards Jordan Poole.
Morant posted, then deleted a video of Poole grabbing his leg and quoted Steve Kerr’s “broke the code” assessment of Dillon Brooks.
Memphis has been awfully quiet about Morant’s injury after that, saying he was likely out for Game 4 before confirming it on Monday and announcing he’d had an MRI, but without disclosing the results.
On Tuesday, the Grizzlies revealed that Morant suffered a bone bruise and is unlikely to play for the rest of the playoffs.
That would seem to indicate, as was fairly clear at the time, that Morant did not injure his knee on the play Poole grabbed him. There was an earlier play when he jumped and landed hard on the descent on Klay Thompson’s right knee.
There’s been no confirmation as to when the injury occurred, but it’s clear now that Morant is unlikely to return to this series, which could conclude in Memphis on Wednesday.
